Health and safety charter

At our practice, we prioritize your health and safety above everything else. We constantly review our procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations, and we urge you to inform a staff member if you observe any areas of concern so that immediate action can be taken.

We have a safety culture in place that puts patient safety at the forefront of all our activities, including healthcare delivery, objective setting, procedure development, and product and equipment purchases. We encourage open and fair discussions among team members to address any work-related challenges in the best interests of our patients. To ensure patient safety, we:

Follow the latest infection prevention guidelines, including those from NHS England
Use dental instruments that are either single-use or sterilized after each use
Decontaminate work areas, such as dental chairs, hand-held equipment, and cupboard handles, between patients
Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, including the wearing of clinical clothing and limited use of jewelry
Monitor practice water quality and disinfect dental unit waterlines to keep them clear
Handle waste in accordance with current regulations and dispose of it using appropriate carriers
Seek expert advice if a team member is suspected to have a blood-borne infection, and the team member will undergo an occupational health examination and follow advice on treating patients
Ensure that all team members are trained in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and follow the practice's safeguarding procedures, which are regularly monitored and reviewed
Run a clinical governance system that uses integrated risk management to identify, assess, analyze, and manage all risks and incidents to continuously improve our care and service to you.

The practice manager is ultimately responsible for overseeing all aspects of the practice, and the team is supported through regular meetings, staff training, personal development, and appraisals.
